Diesel's Keepsake: A Dark Mafia MC Romance by Jill Shannon is the third book in The Celtic Demons trilogy, a book that reads beautifully as a standalone novel. When Ciara O'Malley accepts a position at the Horry County coroner's office in South Carolina, it is in an effort to recreate her life. She wants a fresh start and, if possible, a new Dom. Romeo 'Diesel' Diaz is a broken man and he has carefully built solid walls around his heart. That is until the sudden death of his sister, Isabella. Consumed by grief and pain in his heart, he is surprised about the feelings that Ciara, the seemingly submissive medical examiner, stirs in his heart.

When readers meet Ciara O’Malley, she is frustrated at not being able to find a BDSM dungeon accepting new memberships. This is how Jill Shannon introduces mature sexual themes. Readers encounter characters that are, as usual in this trilogy, complex and multi-dimensional, and Diesel is an epitome of an honestly flawed and broken character. The story features a great setting with impeccable world-building and the author does a wonderful job of creating social and intimate relationships that are real. The sparkling dialogues are cleverly crafted to create drama. The scenes are focused and the points of view are written with unusual clarity. While the stakes in this last installment are lower than in the two previous entries, Shannon invests in characterization and transforms the story into an emotionally and psychologically rich romance with steamy scenes. The leisurely pace and character depth make for a swoony, enjoyable read in Diesel's Keepsake: A Dark Mafia MC Romance. I look forward to discovering more of Jill Shannon’s creations.
